Ohio State Lands Commitment From Alabama Transfer OL Seth McLaughlin

After suffering multiple losses to the NCAA Transfer Portal over the last few weeks, the Ohio State Buckeyes are now starting to add some help.

That started with Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard committing earlier this week, giving the Buckeyes stability at the position after a shaky showing from Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz in the Cotton Bowl.

Now, they are adding some help in the trenches, with Alabama offensive lineman Seth Mclaughlin committing to the program on Saturday morning.

He will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Buckeyes.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound McLaughlin ranked as the No. 118 player in the transfer portal and No. 2 interior offensive lineman.

McLaughlin, who played center for the Crimson Tide, entered the portal soon after his team's loss in the Rose Bowl to Michigan on Monday. He took a visit to Colombus soon after, where he quickly developed a close relationship with Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye.

“I really like the offensive line coach, Coach Frye, and trust him to get me to where I want to go as a player," McLaughlin told On3.

The former three-star recruit started all 14 games for the Tide this season, and eight games in 2022 before leaving Tuscaloosa.

He now likely projects as an immediate starter somewhere on the interior of the line but has most of his experience at the college level at the center spot, where Carson Hinzman was benched during the Cotton Bowl.
