Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class is nearing completion, and attention is already turning to the upcoming class. Nevertheless, the Buckeyes are still on the lookout for a few additional recruits to round out their roster, particularly at the running back position. Flipping an Alabama commit would certainly be a cherry-on-top addition for Ryan Day.
Currently, Ohio State has commitments from two running backs: four-star prospects Bo Jackson and Isaiah West. This duo marks a strong start for the class, but the Buckeyes are not finished yet.
Four-star running back Anthony Rogers (Montgomery, AL / Carver), who is currently committed to Alabama, is visiting this weekend.
Rogers pledged to Alabama in June 2023, but he hasn't fully closed the door on other opportunities. The Buckeyes officially extended an offer to him in April, and they aren’t the only ones trying to sway him; both Auburn and Georgia have hosted him for visits recently.
While Alabama remains the frontrunner, Rogers is carefully evaluating his options to ensure he makes the right choice, and Ohio State might have a chance to change his mind. If the Buckeyes are able to flip Rogers, it would be a significant victory for Day and the program.
Among all the visits happening this weekend, Rogers’ trip to Ohio State stands out as particularly crucial. Coach Tony Alford and the Buckeyes are striving to secure a third running back for their 2025 class, making Rogers their top target.
After visiting Ohio State for the first time in May, he will now take an official visit this weekend. According to the composite rankings from 247Sports, Rogers is considered the No. 141 overall prospect and the No. 8 running back in the 2025 class.
Alford and Rogers have developed a solid relationship throughout the recruitment process, bolstered by Alford’s ties to Alabama. The effort to flip Rogers will likely go on until National Signing Day, but the Buckeyes have a real opportunity to gain his commitment.
