Ohio State Loses Talented Running Back To The Transfer Portal
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

Ohio State had a rough ending to the 2023 season. They lost to Michigan for the third straight year leaving them out of the College Football Playoff yet again. Now, they are losing one of their most promising skill position players. Running back Evan Pryor announced on Sunday afternoon that he has decided to enter the transfer portal.

Ohio State RB Evan Pryor Enters Transfer Portal

Pryor was the No. 6 ranked running back in the 2021 class. He has three years of eligibility remaining. It would not surprise me if this decision stems from the desire for more playing time. Pryor has been behind some talented running backs and has only appeared in eight games in two years. He had this to say in a statement.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for the opportunity to play at the college level. Secondly, I would like to thank Coach Ryan Day, Coach Tony Alford, and Kevin Wilson for recruiting me to play here at The Ohio State University. I would like to thank my teammates for a lifetime of brotherhood and friendships, as well as the coaches and training staff who have supported me through all my years. With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining.”

2024 Offseason Needs

The Buckeyes need to fix the quarterback situation. Kyle McCord has been fine but it is going to take more than fine to be on top of the Big Ten especially with USC, Washington, UCLA, and Oregon joining in 2024. I would expect that Ryan Day and his staff are heavily recruiting the portal as there are a plethora of quarterbacks who are looking for new programs.

Can Ohio State bounce back in 2024? They still have plenty of great players on both sides of the ball and should be in the mix at the end of the season. The goal for 2024 is to not just be in the mix but come out on top.
