Ryan Day Speaks on Risky Play

Day said he told backup QB Lincoln Kienholz to never lower his shoulder again except on fourth down plays.

"I told him let's not ever do that again unless it's fourth down," Day said while laughing according to reporter Chase Brown on X.

"But he's a competitive guy. You can see it. Good to see him get on the field, get some run."

Kienholz Shows Skills in Limited Action

Kienholz has showed off electric skills in limited action this season with the Buckeyes, completing 10-of-11 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown in spot duty.

He's run eight times for 29 yards and two touchdowns, giving the Buckeyes' QB room the type of dual threat ability they are used to seeing from previous players Will Howard, Braxton Miller, and others.

At 6-foot-3, 214 pounds, Kienholz could be an ace in the hole for Day's team against the Knights and Michigan Wolverines next week, especially since Michigan has struggled at times against running quarterbacks in short yardage situations dating back to last season.

Julian Sayin's spot as the starter is more than secure, but Kienholz gives the Buckeyes a different dimension at the position.

Expect the Buckeyes backup to run as if his life depended on it should he get into 'The Game' against the Wolverines, while keeping Day's advice in the back of his mind just in case he needs to make a business decision at some point that may save his body.
