Ohio State quarterback, Julian Sayin feels Ty Simpson deserves to be the Heisman Trophy favorite at the moment.

Simpson and Sayin are both in the running for the award as starting signal callers for two of the best teams in college football.

Sayin was once an Alabama signee and early enrollee. He parted ways with the program soon after Nick Saban retired and transferred to Ohio State. He built a relationship with Simpson during the recruiting process, and the pair has remained in contact.

“So when I visited Bama, I visited a few times, and Ty was always my host,” Sayin said when asked who was his Heisman Trophy favorite on the “Downs 2 Business” podcast. “He’s a great dude. He’s a great player. I still text him today. So, I’m gonna go Ty. He’s having a great year.”

Simpson has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks throughout the 2025 season. He has thrown for 2,184 yards and 20 touchdowns this season. Multiple betting sites have Simpson listed as the favorite to win the award.

Jim Rome recently asked the Alabama quarterback what winning the award would mean to him.

“Extremely blessed, right, Like, it would be a great opportunity. It’s super exciting,” Simpson said. “I wouldn’t be here if it wouldn’t for my teammates and everything they do. I think back to the reason why I came to Alabama and the championship hallway that we have, there’s only four Heisman Trophies, but there’s six National Championships in there. And so that’s what I really care about, just trying to win, trying to be the best guy I can be and make sure that I can do everything for my teammates that gets us win and gets to what we dream about for a long time and what our ultimate goal is.”
