Ohio State Quarterback Announces Transfer Destination on Saturday

It's been four days since Ohio State lost to Miami in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State got a first-round bye after being named the No. 2 seed in the CFP and was trying to defend its national title before Miami won by 10, 24-14. Miami's offensive line bullied Ohio State's defensive line, especially in the fourth quarter.

Ohio State will try again during the 2026 season, but without quarterback Lincoln Kienholz. Even though Kienholz was behind starting quarterback Julian Sayin on the depth chart, he was still good depth to have.

The Buckeyes won't have him anymore since he's now with Louisville. On3/Rivals' Hayes Fawcett was first to report that Kienholz has committed to Louisville.

Kienholz played sparingly during the 2023 and 2025 seasons, compiling 250 yards through the air, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Kienholz was part of the 2023 recruiting class and was a four-star recruit. He was the No. 15 quarterback recruit in the class and the No. 194 overall recruit, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He will now be with a Cardinals program that finished the 2025 season with a 9-4 record. The Cardinals were in the ACC title conversation for a good chunk of the season before losing three of their last four regular-season games.

Jeff Brohm has been the Cardinals' head coach for three seasons, racking up a 28-12 overall record. The 2026 season will be his fourth with the Cardinals after spending six seasons with the Purdue Boilermakers.
