If anyone says networking and familiarity aren't positives in the world of sports, they don't know what they're talking about. It's not uncommon for college players to reunite with former coaches in the NFL when a staff member takes a new job.
The Ohio State Buckeyes can claim another victory in the hours after the 2025 NFL Draft, as right tackle Josh Fryar has a new home. Fryar is following former offensive line coach Justin Frye to the Arizona Cardinals.

Alongside Frye, his former offensive line coach at Ohio State, Fryar now teams up with four of his ex-Ohio State teammates in Arizona. The Cardinals selected Cody Simon in the fourth round and Denzel Burke in the fifth round of this year’s draft, having previously picked Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first round of the 2024 draft and Paris Johnson Jr. in the first round of the 2023 draft.
Fryar enters the NFL with a wealth of experience, boasting 30 career starts, including 29 consecutive starts to finish out his time in 2023 and 2024. He solidified his role as Ohio State's reliable right tackle during their national championship journey, playing through a lower-body injury to secure the title.
While he faced criticism for his pass-blocking in 2023, he impressively allowed only one sack in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus, and went without any sacks in four College Football Playoff games.
Frye, born September 19, 1983, in Elwood, Indiana, has built an impressive coaching career, leveraging his experience as a record-setting offensive lineman at Indiana University (2002–06).
After setting the school record for consecutive starts (45), Frye began coaching as a graduate assistant at Indiana (2007–08), working with the offensive line and tight ends. He then served as a graduate assistant at Florida (2009–10), mentoring future NFL draft picks like Maurkice Pouncey.
Frye’s first full-time role was at Temple University (2011–12), where his offensive line powered a top rushing offense, setting school records. He moved to Boston College (2013–17), coaching lines that supported Heisman finalist Andre Williams and a record-breaking rushing quarterback, Tyler Murphy. His units ranked among the nation’s best, contributing to four bowl appearances.
In 2018, Frye joined UCLA as offensive line coach under Chip Kelly, improving the rushing attack significantly. Promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019, he led UCLA to a Pac-12-leading scoring offense in 2021.
Frye then coached at Ohio State (2022–24), guiding an offensive line that produced All-Americans and contributed to a national championship in 2024, despite midseason challenges.
In 2025, Frye transitioned to the NFL, joining the Arizona Cardinals as offensive line coach.
