In the world of college football, there are few stars who shine as brightly in the present moment as Ohio State Buckeyes sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
After a record-breaking freshman season where he was one of the most dominant players on a championship-winning team, Smith is among the biggest stars that college football has seen in a long time.
On Wednesday, as the college football world starts to ramp things up toward the 2025 season, Smith made a major career announcement, using just four words to do so.
"Three Stripes for life," Smith posted on his social media account.

Smith officially signed an NIL deal with Adidas, now taking over as one of their most high-profile athletes. While this is significant news for the sophomore star and for Adidas, it is also a tough loss for Nike, who is the sponsor of Ohio State, and who likely had an inside track on signing Smith early in his career.
In 2024, Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards, 15 touchdowns and 17.3 yards per catch.
“One of the most memorable moments from last season was losing my black stripe and officially becoming a Buckeye,” Smith said in a statement. “Fast forward a year and I’m blessed to be adding three, joining the fastest brand in football. It’s crazy to be partnering with a brand that has such a talented roster of players and that I’ve been wearing since I was a young kid. We’re not done yet.”
Earlier this week, Smith also turned some heads by making a promise to fans, saying that he vows to never lose to the Michigan Wolverines again in his career. After falling to his biggest rival in brutal fashion last year, enough is enough for Smith.
“I just hate them. Just something about them," Smith said. "For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years.”
After such a promising season, everyone is excited to see what Smith can do in his second year with the Buckeyes, this time with former 5-star QB Julian Sayin under center. Ohio State is an early favorite to make it back to the College Football Playoff and compete for a national championship, and Smith is among the frontrunners to win the Heisman Trophy in December, as well.
