Ohio State Targeting New Star QB: Report
© Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

Ohio State is still searching for a quarterback in the 2026 class. Jett Thomalla remains on Ryan Day’s radar, but his commitment to Iowa State has complicated matters.

Meanwhile, a new name has emerged just hours after the Buckeyes managed to secure a new quarterback from the transfer portal.

Luke Fahey, a product of Mission Viejo High School, has drawn the Buckeyes’ interest. Landing him won’t be easy, however, as Ole Miss and Auburn currently lead his recruitment.

But the 6-foot-1 signal-caller has expressed interest in the Buckeyes. “It’s a dream school for me and my parents!” Fahey told On3.

As for the new addition, Eli Brickhandler has decided to commit to Ohio State. He will be joining as the fourth quarterback.

"Indiana, Stanford and Oklahoma State are a few Fahey is keen on but an offer from the Buckeyes would be a game-changer. Ohio State quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler has been leading the charge in recruiting Fahey." Steve Wiltfong of On3 wrote in his report published Tuesday.

"The On3 Industry tabs Fahey as the nation’s No. 23 quarterback. As a junior he completed over 76 percent of his attempts for 1,638 yards and 17 touchdowns with zero interceptions." Wiltfong added.

Day’s staff will push to host Fahey for an official visit soon. With the quarterback situation seemingly resolved, the only other position they must address in the 2026 cycle is running back.

Questions remain, however, over this year’s QB1—whether Julian Sayin or Lincoln Kienholz will be handed the keys to the engine room and Brickhandler's addition will complicate matters further.

He is transferring to Columbus from the Houston Christian Huskies, bringing veteran experience to the rookie room.
