The No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a 42-17 win over No. 9 Tennessee on Saturday. Before then, a 2025 NFL Mock Draft was released regarding Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer.

CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson predicted that Sawyer would be selected 31st overall by the Detroit Lions. Sawyer would join fellow defensive end and former Michigan star Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit.

Hutchinson has two years left on a contract worth $35.7 million with the Lions, per Spotrac

Hutchinson was the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after spending 2018-21 with the Wolverines. Once he made it to the NFL, Hutchinson had an instant impact, winning the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year award and making last season's Pro Bowl.

Sawyer had five total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in the win over Tennessee. He has been a model of consistency at Ohio State, playing in 51 games from 2021-24.

Over the last four seasons, Sawyer has recorded 136 total tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 20 sacks and one interception.

The Ohio State star was a former five-star prospect in the 2021 class. He was the No. 4 overall prospect and top edge rusher in the On3 Industry Rankings

The Lions have been one of the NFL's best teams this season. They lead the NFC North at 13-2 heading into Monday's game with the San Francisco 49ers.

However, they have had to go on without Hutchinson. Hutchinson played in five games for Detroit this season before suffering a broken tibia and fibula that knocked him out for the rest of the year.

Before the injury, Hutchinson had 19 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss.

Sawyer and Ohio State will next face No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2025. The 2025 NFL Draft is in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24-26.
