While all of the focus in Sooner Nation is on the Class of 2026 and Bowe Bentley, the Oklahoma Sooners are continuing to look beyond, making inroads for the classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029 with their football camps throughout the month of June.
One of their top priorities is in the class of 2027, with five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster. A consensus top-ten player and the number-one defensive lineman in the class, Brewster is the kind of talent the Sooners can build their defense of the future around.

He attended one of Oklahoma's camps last week and dominated the competition, showing off exactly why he's such a coveted recruit.
Being a dominant player from the state of Texas, it's only natural that Brewster's offer sheet is immense and full of the best of college football. Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, and Texas A&M all have sent offers his way.

However, it does appear to be shaping up to be a Red River battle to secure his commitment. According to On3's RPM Prediction machine, the top two teams in his process are the Sooners and Texas Longhorns.
Brewster stopped in to see the Texas staff on Thursday before making his way to Oklahoma's camp over the weekend. The Sooners are currently favored according to On3's machine.
It's still far too early to gauge where this recruitment goes, and Oklahoma might be out of it completely if the 2025 season goes awry, but this staff likes its chances. Brent Venables' resume of development and Oklahoma boasting the top defensive line in the SEC this year speaks for itself.
Brewster would be their second five-star defensive tackle this staff has pulled in, joining David Stone. If the Sooners can pull out a recruiting win here, it would be a monumental feather in their cap, and give the team continuity up front once Stone is off to the NFL.
