The Oklahoma Sooners have done it again, securing another major commitment for their class of 2026. Shortly after landing elite quarterback Bowe Bentley, they have pulled in Bentley's potential blindside blocker in four-star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt.
Schmitt is the number one player from Colorado in the 2026 class, and the Sooners are beyond thrilled to land him. The talented blocker chose Oklahoma over in-state Colorado and SEC rival Alabama.

Schmitt's film is on the verge of five-star territory, with some tremendous movement skills and physicality on full display in every clip. It's no surprise he was Oklahoma's top target at offensive tackle in the 2026 cycle.
His commitment marks another feather in the cap for Bill Bedenbaugh's ever-growing recruiting prowess now that he is being given full resources. Schmitt, alongside 2025 signees Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje as well as 2026 commit Noah Best, are the future of Oklahoma's offensive line.
We'll have to see where Schmitt ultimately lands with the Sooners, as I've seen him evaluated as both a tackle and guard, but regardless, he has the makings of a future starter for the Sooners.
After his June 6th visit with the Sooners, Schmitt spoke about how Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables sold him on their vision and fit for him with the Sooners.
"Brent Venables’ overall message for me was how much of a priority I am for them. He thinks that not only do I fit, but as well as on the personal side, I’ve got a great family, I come from great people. I’ve got great people around me. I’m so blessed to be in the situation I am in and he was saying we want blue collar guys with family values."
Schmitt is Oklahoma's 14th commit of the 2026 class, and their 13th since May 13th, continuing their incredibly hot recruiting streak. The Sooners are aiming to add more to that group in the coming weeks, but for now, they can celebrate landing such a talented anchor up front.
