The Oklahoma Sooners ' recruiting class of 2026 hasn't gone as well as their prior classes have gone, and they currently sit 21st in the country after several top-ten finishes in a row under head coach Brent Venables. However, they are starting to capitalize on their on-field momentum and want to finish their 2026 class off strong before Early Signing Day.
To do that, the Sooners have been circling back to prior targets and engaging in new ones, including their latest commitment. Jacob Curry, a four-star linebacker, committed to Oklahoma on . He is the second linebacker to commit in the Sooners' 2026 class, joining fellow four-star Jakore Smith, and the fourth player from the state of Florida.
The Sooners beat out Miami, Ohio State, Auburn, and Florida State for Curry's commitment
It feels like the Sooners won over Curry during his visit during the Auburn game. He had a strong impression of Oklahoma's entire atmosphere and the facilities and praised both the coaching staff and fans in what was a wild victory for the Sooners. However, a visit to Ohio State loomed large in the minds of Oklahoma's staff in his recruitment.
All for naught, it appears, as Curry affirmed his decision to join the Sooners and add to what is shaping up to be an outstanding defensive haul for Oklahoma. It's no surprise that defenders are catching on to what the Sooners are doing on defense this year and want to be a part of an elite unit.
For now, the Sooners are aiming to flip more targets and add to an ever-growing 2026 class to finish the year with momentum on the recruiting front before going all-in on an outstanding 2027 class.
