We all know about the Oklahoma Sooners and their staff members who have been leaving left and right, whether it be defensive coordinator Zac Alley or assistant general manager Chuck Lillie. They both went to West Virginia and now the general manager, Curtis Lofton, is also leaving, but for good reason.
This is something that has been known for a while, but was only just announced on Thursday -- Lofton is leaving the college football world to get into ministry. You can say what you want about whatever it is that you believe, but you can't say that Lofton isn't perfect for that job.
He loves helping people, and that's exactly what he will be able to do. And, he has all of the support in the world.
It's not every day you have a human being like Lofton in the program. Yes, he is leaving and yes that now creates a new hole, one that they will either address or won't address, and not every program has a GM position. But, what he is doing, is truly special, and even legend Bob Stoops knows that.
Curtis Lofton announced this afternoon he’s stepping down at OU and pursuing a path in ministry.

Bob Stoops is very excited for Lofton and his new path. Stoops couldn’t say enough nice things about his former linebacker.

"He's an incredible man, an incredible person. I love it for him," Sooners' legendary coach Bob Stoops said on REF. "I love that he's going into ministry, I mean he will be great with that. He's what you want, a delightful person, man, whatever you want.
"Good for him, I love it for him and I'm happy for him. He will do great in whatever he does. So I'm happy for him, and I love the fact that he is going into some type of ministry. He will be involved in a lot of people's lives and they will be better for it."
Stoops has known Lofton for a very long time. He coached Lofton when Lofton was just a linebacker at Oklahoma, and of course, being as close as he is still to this day, with OU, I'm sure they have spent some time together. So, he's not just making these kinds of things up.
Lofton is setting out to do what he believes his calling is. And, you can't really knock him for that.
