Coming into the 2025 season, few expect the Oklahoma Sooners to do big things. There are a few talking heads out there that think they can shake things up, but no one has them as a team to win the SEC, or anything like that. But, with recent news about ESPN College GameDay against the Michigan Wolverines, they can prove a lot of doubters wrong.
Let's hope it doesn't end up like the last time.
The last time ESPN College GameDay was in Norman, Oklahoma, for a Sooners game was last year, but near the beginning of the season, before everyone figured out that Oklahoma was actually a bad team. The GameDay crew came to town with the No. 15-ranked Sooners trying to beat the No. 6-ranked Tennessee Volunteers. It didn't go well at all.
Then-starting quarterback Jackson Arnold was pulled from the game, where then-five-star freshman Michael Hawkins came in. The Sooners still lost, badly, as the Volunteers' defensive line pretty much did whatever they wanted to do to the Sooners' offensive line. And, the offense as a whole was just putrid. That was the first game where the country really found out just how bad the Sooners were going to be in 2024.
The Sooners have a similar opportunity now, as the ESPN College GameDay crew is coming to Norman when they play Michigan, another ranked school, in 2025. But this is an opportunity to show the world that this isn't the same team as the one they had last year. This is the perfect opportunity to show the world exactly what they can do and prove all of the haters wrong.

Some will say that Michigan isn't good, but the truth is that we don't know I they're good or not. We can assume that their defense and defensive line will be very good, and one of the better ones the Sooners will face all year. That matters, even if their offense isn't going to be good.
This is huge for the Sooners in showing everyone that OU is back, but also getting the opportunity to show recruits and others what Norman and OU are all about.
