Oklahoma State Kicker Announces Move to Professional Football
SARAH PHIPPS/THE OKLAHOMAN / USA TODAY NETWORK

Oklahoma State football will be in the market to find a new kicker for next season.

The Cowboys have the luxury of returning most of their squad for the 2024 college football season. This includes Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon along with his veteran offensive line.

The only player still in question to return next season is Alan Bowman, who applied for a waiver for an extra year of eligibility. Should he return, the Cowboys will have talent and experience in every facet offensively.

Defensively, the Cowboys will be solid, too. Their biggest area of concern in the offseason is the defensive back position, but, between the transfer portal and recruiting class, the Cowboys should be able to bring in enough talent to give it a fresh look.

After the Texas Bowl, in which Oklahoma State took down Texas A&M 31-23, Oklahoma State kicker Alex Hale announced he was making the leap from college football to professional football.

Hale spent four seasons playing for Oklahoma State, starting in the 2020 season. In this past season, Hale scored 117 points for the Cowboys, nailing 27 of his 34 field goals while making 36 of his 38 extra-point attempts.

While Hale didn't play as much a year ago, he played plenty in 2020 and 2021, tallying six games played in both of those seasons. Across his career in Stillwater, he scored 197 points, converting on 79.6 percent of his field goal attempts -- which he knocked down 43 of his 52 field goal attempts. He converted 68 of his 74 extra-point attempts, too.

Nothing would've been possible without the support of my friends, family, and coaching/strength staff. It's now time for the next chapter of my journey as I prepare for opportunities to play at the professional level," Hale wrote on social media. "Thank you Cowboy nation, loyal and true forever!"
