Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin tests positive for COVID-19, will miss opener against Louisville

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the Rebels' season opener against Louisville Monday, he announced in a statement Saturday morning.

Kiffin is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but said in his statement he began experiencing symptoms Thursday.

Kiffin said earlier this month there was a 100% vaccination rate among Ole Miss players, coaches and staff members entering the 2021 season.

Last season, the Rebels went 5-5 in their first season with Kiffin at the helm. One of their best wins of the year came against Indiana in the Outback Bowl.

Kickoff against Louisville in the annual Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
