Ole Miss defensive back Dante Core was arrested on drug charges just an hour after Christmas Day.
Andalusia Police reportedly arrested Core in the wee hours of Friday morning on possession charges for marijuana and drug paraphernalia. According to a report from the Clarion Ledger’s Sam Sklar, Core was booked in the Covington County Jail and released hours later at around 10:46 a.m.
Per the report, Ole Miss players had a few days off to enjoy the holiday season before they were expected back at practice on Dec. 26.
The news of the arrest comes just days before No. 6 Ole Miss takes on No. 3 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. The 20-year-old’s absence in the contest does not impact Ole Miss all that much. Core, a 6’0″ freshman cornerback, has yet to play in a game this season.
Core was a three-star recruit who served as a two-way player for Choctawhatchee High School at Fort Walton Beach, Fla. 247 Sports ranked him the 67th best cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class.
