On3’s Clark Brooks has released his rankings of the top 100 players in college football for the 2025 season, and Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt earned a spot among the elite.

Leavitt checked in at No. 5 overall, making him one of the highest-ranked players in the Big 12 heading into the fall.

Leavitt has quickly become one of the faces of the Sun Devils’ transition into the Big 12. After flashing his potential on a national stage last season, the junior enters 2025 with both individual and team expectations on the rise. His dual-threat ability has made him one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country, combining arm talent with the mobility to keep defenses off balance.

Landing inside the top five of a national player ranking puts Leavitt in rare company, especially considering the Big 12’s continual fight for relevance alongside the Big Ten and SEC. For Arizona State, it signals that the program has a legitimate headliner who can elevate the team into the thick of the conference race.

Leavitt was not the only Big 12 player recognized on the list, but his placement at No. 5 is the highest for any player in the league. That distinction not only validates his growing national profile but also underscores the importance of his performance this season for Kenny Dillingham’s team.

With Leavitt leading the way, Arizona State will be expected to compete with Kansas State, Utah, Texas Tech, and others for a spot in the Big 12 Championship. If he lives up to the billing of a top-five player in the country, the Sun Devils could be in for a breakout year in their second season as members of the conference.
