The Oregon Ducks didn't have quite as active a month of June that many fans may have wanted, but the latest game-changing recruiting news from Dan Lanning and company should immediately get the program back on track for an elite 2026 recruiting class.

Immanuel Iheanacho commits to Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning

The Oregon Ducks had been pushing hard to land five star top-ten-overall elite offensive tackle recruit Immanuel Iheanacho for well over a year and they finally got the news they were hoping for.

Immanuel Iheanacho announced on Thursday that he was committing to Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks. He immediately becomes the face of the entire 2026 recruiting class who should help spark even more momentum for Lanning and his staff.

Despite Iheanacho being from the state of Maryland, Lanning and his crew somehow found a way to recruit him all the way across the country, beating out schools like Penn State (in his backyard), Auburn, and LSU for his services down the stretch.

Iheanacho is a monster of a man at 6'7", 380 pounds, but how and where will he fit into the plans for the Oregon Ducks now that he's committed?

Immanuel Iheanacho fit with Oregon Ducks offense

The Ducks just sent both Josh Conerly Jr. and Ajani Cornelius off to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft this spring, so Oregon will be trotting out a brand new pair of transfer offensive tackles this season in Isaiah World and Alex Harkey. That duo should be highly effect as a one-year bandaid for the offensive tackle spots, but they're both likely going to be gone after this season too.

What does that mean? Iheanacho should be able to step in as a monstrous true freshman built like a first round offensive tackle and start from day one in 2026 as the anchor of the Oregon Ducks line. Fellow 2026 recruit Tommy Tofi (four star offensive tackle) could take the other tackle spot if it's not won by a veteran.

Oregon now has a top ten 2026 recruiting class (as of this writing) yet again and has locked up their future at both offensive tackle spots. Dan Lanning still needs to fill out other portions of the roster, but if a couple more signings like this stack up the Ducks will be back among the elite recruiting ranks here soon.
