The Oregon Ducks gained an intriguing commitment on Monday when 2027 Honolulu (Hawaii) Farrington offensive lineman Koloi Keli announced his commitment to the Ducks. Keli was previously committed to the Cal Golden Bears. He had been committed since early June.

Keli is extremely underrated from a recruiting ranking perspective. 247Sports currently has him rated as the No. 87 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class, and the No. 10 player from the state of Hawaii. The 247Sports Composite ranking has him pegged as the No. 1,189 overall player And No. 87 interior offensive lineman in the country.
Outside of Oregon and Cal, Keli has put together a slightly peculiar offer list. Some of the 6-1, 300-pound lineman’s top offers include Utah, Michigan State, Arizona, SMU, UNLV, UTSA, San Diego State, Nevada, San Jose State, and Hawaii among others.
While this commitment won’t wow any Oregon fans from a rankings or offer list perspective, there is a lot to like about Keli. In fact, his game is very reminiscent of current starting center Iapani Laloulu. Like Laloulu, Keli has a bowling ball build which doesn’t always look the smoothest athletically.
Despite that, Keli is a very efficient mover. He also plays with easy natural leverage, and a ton of power throughout his frame. The Hawaii native feels like a player that is going to outperform his recruiting rankings down the road, but does have a long term developmental feel to him.
For whatever reason, head coach Dan Lanning and the Oregon staff seem to have had some real troubles on the recruiting trail over the last several weeks. Missing out on five-star signal caller Ryder Lyons feels like the obvious example. That has forced the Ducks to reshuffle their board and dig deeper for some diamonds.
Let’s hope they have made some good evaluations this cycle. If players like Keli and quarterback Bryson Beaver end up outperforming expectations, that was be a major boost to this program as we go deeper into Coach Lanning’s tenure.
