Oregon Ducks Expected to Land 5-Star QB After Losing Jared Curtis to Georgia

The Oregon Ducks missed out on their top quarterback prospect in the 2026 class, No. 1 ranked QB Jared Curtis, who announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday afternoon.

However, it appears that they may still be in a solid position when it comes to future quarterback prospects.

Not 30 minutes after Curtis committed to the Bulldogs, On3's Steve Wiltfong logged an official prediction for the Ducks to land a commitment from 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, the No. 3 QB in the 2026 class.

Lyons is also rated as the No. 6 overall player in the class, and the No. 1 player in the state of California.

The Ducks have been recruiting Lyons over the past year as well as Curtis, but it was clear that Curtis was at the top of their recruiting board. However, with the Nashville native sticking closer to home and going to Georgia, Oregon will now turn to the west coast and try to get Lyons to stay close to home.

The USC Trojans are also in the running to land Lyons as well.

While Lyons is a member of the 2026 class, he plans to take and LDS mission after his senior year, and will actually enroll in school as a part of the 2027 class. This means that the Ducks will likely have to find a stop-gap player before he can come in and be the starter, following the eventual departure of Dante Moore, a former 5-star player who is now projected to be the starter in Eugene.
