Oregon Ducks Losing Talented Tight End To Transfer Portal
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Following their victory over Liberty in the bowl game, the Oregon Ducks are about to bid farewell to yet another player as he prepares to enter the transfer portal.

Reports from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports on Thursday suggest that Casey Kelly, a tight end for Oregon, has intentions to make his way into the transfer portal. Kelly becomes the twelfth scholarship player from Oregon to make this decision, with cornerback Cole Martin also recently entering the portal earlier this week.

Casey Kelly, who has been with the Ducks for four years, initially arrived at Oregon after transferring from Ole Miss. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-3 and weighing 245 pounds, he commenced his collegiate career in the SEC, where he played for the Rebels for three seasons before making the move to Oregon.

At Ole Miss, Kelly followed in the footsteps of his brother, quarterback Chad Kelly, and his uncle, Jim Kelly, a Hall of Fame quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. During his time with Ole Miss, Casey Kelly managed to amass 282 receiving yards and score three touchdowns over the course of three seasons.

However, during his single season at Oregon, Kelly found himself mostly on the sidelines, as he played in the shadow of Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert. His performance in that season consisted of five receptions for 43 yards and two touchdowns.

Starting his journey as a three-star recruit from Mallard Creek High School in Buffalo, New York, Kelly first entered the transfer portal prior to joining Oregon. Now, as he enters it once again, he remains a three-star prospect.

With one season of eligibility remaining, Casey Kelly is expected to seek a more prominent role elsewhere, aiming to find a new team where he can make a significant impact on the field.
