Oregon QB Bo Nix proved he's a 'winner' at Senior Bowl

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix made his presence known during his time on the field at the Senior Bowl on Saturday during the National Team's 16-7 win over the American Team.

Nix, who appeared in two drives, was 4-of-5 for 21 yards including a touchdown pass while scrambling.

Nix's lone incompletion came on a flea flicker where he delivered a great ball deep down the field with North Carolina's Devontez Walker dropping the pass.

After the game, National coach Jeff Ulbrich, who's the New York Jets defensive coordinator, spoke glowingly about Nix.

"He's just absolutely a winner," Ulbrich said, per ESPN.

Nix, who turns 24 on Feb. 25, led the nation in passing touchdowns (45) and completion percentage (77.4%) while ranking second in passing yards (4,508) and passing efficiency (188.33). Nix threw just three interceptions last season and rushed for 234 yards and six touchdowns.

Despite Nix's elite numbers in 2023 and having six years of collegiate experience, he's not receiving top-tier NFL Draft evaluations across the board. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Nix as his No. 6 QB in the draft and doesn't include him in his first round mock draft. However, PFF's Trevor Sikkema has a much more favorable view of Nix and has him going No. 12 overall to the Denver Broncos.

Nix's draft stock is on the rise after a steady week of practices at the Senior Bowl and an effective gameday. He'll have to continue impressing at the NFL Scouting Combine in March, and if he does the buzz of him becoming a first round selection should begin to grow. Nix doesn't seem too concerned about where the chips fall, though. He loves playing football and knows the rest will take care of itself.

"I enjoy playing football and I’ll do anything to go out there and strap it up, our offense vs. any defense, be efficient and play the game,” Nix said, per the Denver Post. “Play quarterback. It’s one of the most fun things in the world to go out there to be a quarterback of any offense."

The NFL Draft kicks off on April 27 in Detroit, Michigan.
