In the immediate hours following their historic national title game victory over TCU, Georgia found out that they'd be losing two of their key defensive players to the NFL Draft.
Confirming the expected, Kelee Ringo told reporters in the locker room tonight that his intention is to enter the NFL draft. https://t.co/KJv9ZqaaaF

Georgia DL Jalen Carter announced that he is entering the draft. Carter is Mel Kiper’s No. 1 rated player in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Carter finished the Bulldogs' 65-7 rout on Monday night with two solo tackles, while Ringo picked up one assisted tackle in the contest. Ringo recorded five solo tackles, one pass defended and a forced fumble in the team's semifinal win over Ohio State and Carter had one solo tackle and one pass defended in that game as well.
A sophomore cornerback, Ringo had a crucial 79-yard interception return for a touchdown in last year's national championship game win against Alabama. He tied for the team lead with seven passes defended this season.
Expected to be one of the first players off the board in April's draft, Carter led Georgia with two forced fumbles this season (despite missing two games with a knee injury), was tied for third in tackles for loss (7.0) and tied for fourth in sacks (3.0) as well. The junior defensive lineman was a 2022 consensus All-American and earned first team All-SEC honors in 2022.
Despite the heavy losses on their roster -- which also includes quarterback Stetson Bennett -- the Bulldogs should be right in the mix as a national title contender yet again next season. They went through a similar roster upheaval last offseason and went ahead and finished the 2022 campaign with a 15-0 record.
With a combination of recruiting, transfers and the coaching of Kirby Smart, Georgia should be just fine during the 2023 season.
