LSU’s Paris Shand spoke to the media this week about the confidence of the defensive line and preparing to play Vanderbilt this week.

How does the performance against Florida give this defensive line confidence to do it again this week against Vanderbilt?

Paris: I wouldn't say just the performance in itself is what gives us confidence. I'd say more so we just have confidence in ourselves when it comes to striking the opponent in front of us and doing our jobs. You’re not going to be perfect every time but we're confident that we can stop the run where we need to, especially as a d-line. Just confident overall when it comes to stopping the run.

You guys have Vanderbilt coming into town. What challenges do you see on film that they're going to throw your way?

Paris: They have a lot of different runs when it comes to their offense…so I think it's big for us to stop the run. I say that every time but stopping the run is very important and forcing them to get uncomfortable and have to throw the ball and hold the ball. Because they'll throw it but it's a lot of quick throws so forcing them to have to really drop back and do the things that they're not accustomed to. I feel like this is something that we do well as a d-line so forcing them to be uncomfortable and helping us.
