With the 2024 college football season long over, and teams are now focusing on preparations for the 2025 season. Some teams must replace their star players, while others aim to build around their returning stars.
One team looking to replace its quarterback is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jalen Milroe completed 64.3% of his passes for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In addition, he rushed for 726 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.
After the season, Milroe declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, where he was ranked as the No. 5 quarterback in the upcoming class. Paul Finebaum discussed Milroe during his show, "The Paul Finebaum Show," sharing his insights on Milroe's final season at Alabama.
"I didn't see a whole lot last year that impressed me," Finebaum said. "But it could have been that he, Sheridan and DeBoer just did not connect."
Finebaum is not very optimistic about Milroe's NFL draft prospects. He has previously stated that he believes Milroe should not be selected before the third round. However, Finebaum also mentioned that if someone drafts him early, it would be a significant achievement for Milroe. He compared Milroe to former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, who won the Super Bowl. Finebaum noted that many people were not high on Hurts when he left college, yet his career has turned out successfully, culminating in him being awarded Super Bowl MVP.
Milroe was not selected in the first round on Thursday night in the 2025 NFL Draft, and now it's a waiting game to see if he's a Day 2 pick.
