Penn State All 105: What Role Will ‘Pride of York’ Beau Pribula Have in new Offense

Eight days after the Maryland game, Penn State fired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. Weeks later, the program hired a full-time replacement in Kansas’ Andy Kotelncki. Kotelnicki liked to use 2QBs at the same time while at Kansas.

It will be a while before we find out Kotelnicki’s plans for Pribula. In the meantime, Pribula is the subject of All 105, a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State football player.

Hometown: York, Pennsylvania

Before Penn State: Beau Pribula had an excellent high school career at Central York. Pribula became Central York’s first three-year captain. As a junior, led his school to both its first district championship win and state championship game appearance.

Pribula led Central York to a second straight undefeated regular a season as a senior, but this time the team fell in the district semifinals. Pribula’s play earned him Pennsylvania Player of the Year honors in both his junior and senior seasons.

Pribula ended his high school career with a county-record 108 touchdowns. He committed to Penn State in August 2020 as a three-star recruit.

2022: Pribula redshirted, playing behind starting QB Sean Clifford, as well as backups Drew Allar and Christian Veilleux.

Last year: Now the second-stringer behind Allar, Pribula got a lot more playing time, albeit with most of it coming in games where Penn State was way ahead. He ended the season with seven rushing touchdowns, which are tied for seventh in Penn State history for a quarterback in a single season. He also rushed for 329 yards, which is good for ninth in team history.

Where he stands: It’s pretty clear that, if Allar is healthy, he’ll remain Penn State’s starter. The question is, how much will Pribula be used by Kotelnicki?
