The Penn State football team might be off this week on the field. But, recruiting never stops for James Franklin and his staff. This week, news broke that legacy prospect in the 2025 recruiting class member Michael Carroll would visit Miami this weekend. But the Nittany Lion head coach also made a trip down to Florida to connect with some of the best talents in high school football.
Michael Carroll is one of the best prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. According to On3, Carroll is the No. 1 IOL in the 2025 cycle and ranks as the No. 12 prospect in the country. Carroll is originally from Pennsylvania where he attended Central Bucks East. But he decided to transfer to IMG Academy before his senior season.
Carroll is a Penn State football legacy prospect but committed to Alabama in June. The Nittany Lions are on a bye week this week but the IMG Academy Football Twitter / X account shared where James Franklin was. He was joined by Director of Player Personnel Kenny Sanders on a trip down to Florida this week.

We are roughly three months away from early National Signing Day. While verbal commitments have been made it’s not over until it’s over. Michael Carroll is still currently committed to the Crimson Tide, but is he open to considering other options?
Well, he’s at least entertaining visiting other schools and facilities as he will make the trip to Miami for their game on Saturday against Ball State. But James Franklin appears to also be making an effort to continue to recruit Carroll.
Carroll’s decision doesn’t appear to be on the fritz. But it does appear that Penn State football and Miami are working to potentially guide his commitment in their favor.
