People close to Jayden Daniels reportedly don’t want this team to draft him

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But according to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston, there are some in Daniels’ close circle who don’t want to see him end up getting picked by the New England Patriots, who have the No. 3 overall pick.

“What I did hear about Daniels is that there are those in his camp who really would rather he not come to New England,” Perry said. “That’s probably climate-related. Guy grew up in San Bernadino, California, played at Arizona State and LSU and now all of a sudden he’s in Foxboro, Mass., trying to figure things out when it’s snowing and below freezing? Again, I don’t think that would be a concern for the Patriots, but it would be interesting to see how he would embrace the area.”

Daniels is considered one of the top three passers in the 2024 draft, and some scouts have him as the No. 2 QB on the board behind USC's Caleb Williams.

While those closest to Daniels may not want him to end up in Boston, the Heisman Trophy-winning QB hasn’t given any indication of the sort.

Speaking to reporters at the combine this year, Daniels actually seemed delighted at the prospect of playing for the storied franchise and following in the footsteps of one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

“It would be dope,” Daniels said, via NESN. “Growing up and seeing what Tom Brady did — six Super Bowls — that’s going to be tough to live up to. It would be dope to come in there and, seeing the success they had, come in there and help them get back on track.”

It was reported a little over a week ago that Daniels was actually the quarterback that former head coach Bill Belichick was zeroing in on with the No. 3 pick before he and the Patriots parted ways.
