Virginia running back Perris Jones was discharged from the Frazier Rehabilitation Institute and is heading back to Charlottesville, Virginia to continue his recovery process, according to a statement from UofL Health on Tuesday morning. 

According to the statement, which can be read in its entirety below, Jones "has made tremendous progress, is now ready for travel and will continue his rehabilitation journey in Virginia." 

Jones had been in Louisville since suffering a serious spinal injury from a collision late in the third quarter of UVA's loss at Louisville on Thursday, November 9th. He was taken by ambulance to the University of Louisville Medical Center, where he underwent a successful spinal surgery the following the day. Jones was later transferred to the Frazier Rehabilitation Institute, where he spent the last two weeks going through the critical early stages of his rehabilitation process.

"After spending two and a half weeks in the care of UofL Health, University of Virginia football player Perris Jones is leaving Frazier Rehabilitation Institute and headed home to Virginia. 

The senior running back was injured during the UVA vs. Louisville game on November 9th at L&N Stadium.

Jones was aided by the quick response of the UofL Health - Sports Medicine team on the sideline of the game and throughout his care. Jones underwent spine surgery at UofL Hospital, followed by physical and occupational therapy at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute.

From the football field, through surgery and rehab, the comprehensive and integrated system of care has contributed to Jones’ recovery success.

Jones has made tremendous progress, is now healthy for travel and will continue his rehabilitation journey in Virginia."
