College football fans, especially those cheering for Texas or Ohio State, have Aug. 30 circled and highlighted on their calendars. On that day, the Buckeyes begin their national title defense against the Longhorns, in a rematch of last season's College Football Playoff semifinal at AT&T Stadium.

The game at Ohio Stadium will mark the start of a new era for Texas. Barring something unexpected, Arch Manning will start behind center for the Longhorns, replacing the NFL-bound Quinn Ewers, to begin what fans back in Austin hope is a championship-worthy campaign.

The redshirt sophomore Manning is the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, two months before the 2025 kicks off. And according to his uncle, Peyton Manning, Arch is set to enjoy a "huge advantage" as he takes over the Texas offense.

"The fact that (Steve) Sarkisian calls the plays, that Arch has been there two years already and is going to know the system, that's going to be a huge advantage for him," Peyton Manning told ESPN's Pat McAfee on Monday. "I'm looking forward to seeing him get out there on the field."

Peyton Manning, who played in the NFL for 17 years and won two Super Bowls, spoke about the frustration that quarterbacks feel if their coaches and coordinators are constantly shuffled each year. He remarked that he was lucky to work with offensive guru Tom Moore for the entirety of his 13-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts.

"(Bill) Belichick gave (Tom) Brady some different coordinators, but it was the same system," Manning said. "(Nick) Saban made his new coordinators learn his system. So does Kirby (Smart)."

With this stability already in place in Austin, Peyton Manning believes his nephew's familiarity with Sarkisian's concepts will make his transition to the starting job a smoother one and could lead to a memorable season for the Longhorns.
