The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on Dec. 4 and it’s been as chaotic as expected for just about every program in the country — including WVU.

But when taking a look at Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers, although they have lost a large chunk of transfers, they have mostly been ale to retain the core members of the team. With that said, the losses have hurt the depth and put a pressure on WVU to look to the portal to add new pieces.

Here’s a recap of the Mountaineers who have publicly decided to stick around and the others who left town.

WVU Players Retained

  • QB Garrett Greene
  • RB Jahiem White
  • WR Traylon Ray
  • WR Rodney Gallagher
  • WR Preston Fox
  • TE Kole Taylor
  • OL Wyatt Milum
  • OL Tomas Rimac
  • OL Brandon Yates
  • OL Nick Malone
  • OL Jay Williams
  • OL Nick Krahe
  • LB Josiah Trotter
  • LB Ben Cutter
  • LB Trey Lathan

WVU Players Lost to Transfer Portal

  • WR Davis Mallinger
  • RB Justin Jonhson Jr.
  • DB Andrew Wilson-Lamp
  • DB Keyshawn Cobb
  • DB Christion Stokes

Braham opened up to WVSN about what went down on his last day in West Virginia and his last conversation with Brown.

For related stories, Brown talks about the positions of need WVU is focusing on when looking at transfers and also responds to a question asking if he would be open to bringing back former Mountaineers available again.
