Defensive tackles are always a priority in the transfer portal. The latest player to take advantage of this is Cam Rice of Ohio, who has only been in the portal for two days, but has already accumulated more than 15 offers. The latest to join the chase was Indiana.

The Hoosiers joined Maryland, Mississippi State, West Virginia, USF, Coastal Carolina, FAU, Marshall, Boise State, Arkansas State, Memphis, Western Kentucky, Appalachian State, Sam Houston, New Mexico and UTEP in offering Rice.

Rice, 6-foot-3 and 290-pounds, played his high school football at Morgantown, West Virginia, the home of the Mountaineers. He began his collegiate career with his hometown program as a walk-on but then transferred to Division II West Liberty for two seasons before finding his way to Ohio in 2024. During his one season with the Bobcats he totaled 30 tackles, nine tackles for loss and three sacks.

As a graduate transfer, with the Mountaineers' offering, Rice was given an opportunity to return home for his final season. While it would be somewhat unique to finish where he began, with the recent return of head coach Rich Rodriguez, it would also be a completely different experience. However, as mentioned, the competition will be fierce for the veteran defensive tackle, who continues to add offers to his growing total.

Will the draw of coming back home win out or will Rice play elsewhere?
