Predicted Trade Sees Colorado's Shedeur Sanders Replace $160 Million QB

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continues to light up the college football landscape in 2024. Through 10 games, the 22-year-old senior has thrown for 3,222 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 72.9% of his attempts amid the Buffaloes' 8-2 start.

A likely first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Sanders' name continues to appear high up on media mock drafts.

On Monday, CBS Sports released an updated first-round mock draft featuring three quarterbacks in the top 32 picks. Sanders was projected as the first signal-caller off the board, landing with the New York Giants at No. 2 overall via a mock trade with the Tennessee Titans.

CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson predicted the Giants to move up from No. 5 overall to No. 2 overall to get in front of two other quarterback-needy teams.

In this scenario, Sanders would replace Daniel Jones, who was benched this week in place of backup Tommy DeVito. The 27-year-old Jones is in the second season of the four-year, $160 million contract extension signed in March 2023.

"The Daniel Jones experiment is almost certainly over after his benching, so the Giants decide to trade up, leapfrog the Raiders and get their next franchise QB," Wilson wrote.

"And while Sanders' father has made it known he will (understandably) have a say on where his son lands, New York feels like a natural fit. In part because it's the biggest media market in the country, and in part because of Brian Daboll's track record with helping to develop Josh Allen."

With the exception of 2022, quarterbacks have been drafted with three of the first four picks in every NFL draft since 2021.
