The Indiana football program is losing a key member of its defense as Kobee Minor is expected to hit the transfer portal, according to reports.

HoosierIllustrated.com has confirmed Minor will be heading into the portal.

Minor was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2023 in his first season with he Indiana football program.

Minor started nine games and made 11 appearances last season, totaling 29 tackles and four pass breakups.

Before Minor hit the portal, the secondary was already a position of need in the eyes of Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti.

“We were really thin back there,” Cignetti said after the Spring Game. “Probably still need that, a piece or two, after spring ball.”

Prior to his one season at Indiana, Minor spent three seasons at Texas Tech and combined for 13 tackles in 13 games.

In 24 career appearances, Minor has totaled 42 tackles and six pass breakups.

Darryl Minor, Kobee’s brother, recently announced he would be entering the transfer portal after one year with Indiana as well.

Indiana has just six cornerbacks on scholarship heading into the summer after adding Cedarius Doss from Austin Peay earlier this month.

But, now there is even a greater need at the position after the loss of Minor.

“Defensively, maybe some depth in some areas. Evaluate the back end, do we have what we need going into the fall,” Cignetti said earlier this spring. “Look, if the NCAA doesn’t change this multiple transfer rule back, you‘re looking at another transfer wave in May like you had in December. I don’t think it will be as big, but you‘ll have people coming and going. That’s just football right now.”

The spring transfer portal window closes on Tuesday, April 30.
