Fresno State transfer quarterback Logan Fife, who had committed to the Gophers football program on Dec. 17, announced on social media on Sunday that he is decommitting from the U and will reopen his recruitment.
“After careful consideration with my family, I have decided it is best for me to DECOMMIT from The University of Minnesota. My recruitment is back open,” Fife posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

In three years at Fresno State, Fife completed 143-of-224 passes for 1,585 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions. He seemed likely to be the backup quarterback this season for the Gophers, behind New Hampshire transfer quarterback Max Brosmer, who the U also landed in the transfer portal.
Brosmer was first in the FCS in passing yards per game (314.9) second in passing yards (3,464) and touchdowns (29) in 2023.
