The SEC continues to feel like the Wild, Wild West. This week, No. 3 Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0 SEC) traveled into Death Valley to face LSU (5-3, 2-3) . When the dust settled, the Aggies left Baton Rouge, La. with a commanding 49–25 win—solidifying themselves as the top dog in the conference. The man leading the charge? Marcel Reed. He’s my week nine Quarterback of the Week. Here’s why.

Stat Line

Reed delivered a dual-threat masterclass. He went 12-of-21 for 202 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing 13 times for 108 yards and two more scores. His ability to impact the game through the air and on the ground made him nearly impossible to contain as the game tightened. Just imagine for a second, that Reed was a polished passer. This is what college is about, development. The quarterback has to be developed.

What I Liked

Poise and Composure

Reed showed high-level mental toughness. Even with a couple of throws he’d like back, he stayed calm under pressure and refused to let mistakes snowball. After tossing two interceptions, he responded with scoring drives—the mark of a mature competitor with short-term memory.

Mobility

His athleticism jumps off the screen. Reed is arguably one of the most electric open-field runners in college football. The Lamar Jackson comparisons? They’re real. His shiftiness, fluidity and vision make him a nightmare to defend. He averaged 8.3 yards per carry, consistently moving the chains and extending drives with his legs.

Confidence

Reed played with conviction. Even after turnovers, he stayed aggressive, attacking tight windows with rhythm and decisiveness. When he’s locked in, he delivers the ball with precision and trust in his reads. His confidence didn’t waver—and that’s what separates good quarterbacks from great ones. Only a select few have this ability, it’s refreshing to witness.

Final Thoughts

Reed continues to evolve into one of the nation’s most complete quarterbacks. His poise, mobility and competitive edge have the Aggies right in the College Football Playoff mix—and his performance in Death Valley proved that he’s not just leading the Aggies, he’s the glue. The Aggies control their own destiny with a perfect record. I predict that Reed will turn his game up a few notches to give his team the best chance at making a strong playoff push. They are the best overall team in the conference right now and the record shows it.
