USC quarterback Caleb Williams has a leg up heading into the 2023 college football season. He's the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, and many seem to believe that he's the favorite to be the first to win back-to-back Heismans since Ohio State running back Archie Griffin did so in the 1970s.
Williams also has a leg up on the competition thanks to USC's "Week 0" game against San Jose State. He completed 18-of-25 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns in the 56-28 win.
With that said, Williams isn't the only player capable of winning the 2023 Heisman Trophy. He's got the best odds at +500, according to FanDuel, but he does have some competition.
Most notable is LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who checks in with the second-best odds at +1000. Daniels threw for 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns last season with just three interceptions. He also rushed for 885 yards and 11 scores. In year two of head coach Brian Kelly's tenure in Baton Rouge, there are massive expectations for the fifth-year senior as well as LSU.
Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers follow Daniels up with +1200 odds while new Clemson starter Cade Klubnik is getting a ton of hype at +1400.
Travis threw for 3,214 yards and 24 touchdowns with five interceptions last season while rushing for seven touchdowns as well. Florida State is expected to be the cream of the crop in the ACC and potentially vie for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Speaking of the CFP, there's an expectation Ewers keeps Texas in the running during his sophomore season. He threw for 2,177 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions in 10 games for Texas last season.
