Names in the News

–Quincy Burroughs, CB, Jacksonville, Florida (Raines HS), FR. 6’2/202 lbs

Quincy Burroughs entered the transfer portal after a year with the Cincinnati Bearcats. He is a true freshman that did not appear in any games this season and was a three-star prospect coming out of Raines HS in Jacksonville (FL.) Burroughs committed to the Bearcats over offers from the Appalachian State Mountaineers, Connecticut Huskies, Florida International Panthers, Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, and Oregon State Beavers. However, he is in Madison this weekend for an official visit with the Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers recently offered his younger brother Naeem Burroughs a top running back in the 2026 class.

Jeff Pietrowski, DL, Medina, Ohio (St. Edward HS), JR. 6’2/250 lbs

Jeff Pietrowski announced today that he is entering the transfer portal. The former Michigan State Spartan defensive lineman and three-star recruit finished the 2022 season with 33 tackles and three forced fumbles. He is from Medina, Ohio, and chose the Spartans over Boston College Eagles, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Pittsburgh Panthers, and Purdue Boilermakers. Minnesota is a team to look for here, as the current Golden Gophers' co-defensive coordinator Paul Haynes was on the Spartan's staff when he committed.

Sawyer Robertson, QB, Lubbock, Texas (Coronado), RS/FR, 6'4/215 lbs

Sawyer Robertson announced on Wednesday that he was entering the transfer portal. The former four-star recruit committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs because of former head coach Mike Leach . He chose them over the Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida State Seminoles, Texas Longhorns, and USC Trojans, among others. Robertson, a redshirt freshman, appeared in five games and was 6/11 for 23 yards. He visited the TCU Horned Frogs early this week and will visit the Baylor Bears this weekend. Both schools make sense, as the Bears only have one scholarship quarterback on the roster. While the Horned Frogs will lose Max Duggan , they still have Chad Morris. He will likely end up either in Fort Worth or Waco.
