Quinn Ewers Gives Head-Turning Response About His GPA

Quinn Ewers did not fail to catch attention when the former Texas Longhorns quarterback issued a head-turning response to a question from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin at the NFL Combine.

When Tomlin asked Ewers something in regard to academics at Texas in relation to Ewers, he brought up the infamous Cardale Jones quote. At first glance, that looks like something that make a bad impression.

But, with context, it sounds like that was not quite the case. And Ewers' answer seemed to carry more sarcasm than anything else.

“It was funny, we started talking about my major. It’s like what Cardale Jones said, you know — we didn’t go college to play school,” Ewers said in an interview with Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports. “But, no, it was good getting to talk to him.”

Still, there was some concern that was brought about when Ewers' GPA was leaked. It's a 3.3 after Ewers majored in Physical Culture in Sports during his time in Austin. That's not exactly the most intensive focus of study in comparison to how demanding many of the other college majors are.

It will be interesting to see where Ewers is ultimately taken off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. Once projected to be the first quarterback, if not the first player off the board, Ewers is now projected to be taken in the middle or late rounds of the event.
