Quinn Ewers Makes Official Decision on NFL Combine

There may not be a quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft class whose stock is as mysterious as Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Heralded as a five-star quarterback in high school who garnered a perfect rating, Ewers was expected to be a generational college quarterback. When expectations are that high, living up to them is nearly impossible. With that being said, Ewers walks away from Texas, having been the quarterback to revive the struggling powerhouse program. He led Texas to its first conference title win since 2009, its first College Football Playoff in program history, the SEC title in year one of the conference this season, and two wins in the College Football Playoff.

However, injuries have constantly deterred Ewers from reaching his full potential. He's missed seven games in three years at Texas. This season's injury, initially reported as an oblique strain and confirmed on Tuesday to be a torn oblique, may have impacted his NFL draft stock the most. Before the injury, Ewers was in the Heisman driver's seat, and seemed to be a first-round lock, but now he is still fighting for positioning in the class.

As confirmed by NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Ewers will have a chance to impress scouts this week when he throws at the NFL Combine.

"Another quarterback I can tell you will throw is Texas' Quinn Ewers," Pelissero said of the NFL Combine. "I'm told that he has fully recovered now from a torn oblique that he played with basically this entire season. It happened in the Michigan game. It got worse over the course of time. But he is healthy now, his weight up to about 215 pounds."

Pelissero also revealed that Ewers has been working out with former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy to prepare.

According to ESPN's prospect rankings prior to the combine, Ewers ranks as the No. 4 quarterback in the class and the No. 65 prospect overall.

Ewers and the rest of the quarterbacks will be tested on March 1 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.
