Finally, the time has come this fall: Arch Manning is the unquestioned starter for the Texas Longhorns, following multiple years of Quinn Ewers leading the program.
After spending two seasons behind Ewers, Manning is now ready to take control of Steve Sarkisian’s offense, bringing some experience from limited game action last season.
Ewers, a recent seventh-round NFL Draft pick, has opened up about Manning, offering insight that Longhorns fans will be eager to hear.
“He’s great. He’s a good kid,” Ewers said via On3. “He was definitely fun to have in the quarterback room. We’re good buddies.
“I’m super excited to see what he does. He’s a hard-working kid, he’s a hard studier. He’s going to set himself up to be as successful as he wants to be, and I think he’s got a chance to go do exactly that and continue on living out what we built at Texas.”
Manning comes with a ton of hype due to his last name being well known, but the expectations are very real for the former five-star quarterback as he steps into the starting role. After two years in the program, the Longhorns believe he’s ready to lead them on a potential College Football Playoff run in 2025. Building off of a semifinal appearance last year is where Texas would like to go.

It’s only May, and Week 1 against the Ohio State Buckeyes is still a few months away, but Manning will be tested right out of the gate as Texas’s new starting quarterback on the road in Columbus. Another interesting thing to wonder about Manning is whether or not Texas will get two seasons with him as the starter.
