There once was a time when Quinn Ewers was the best thing since sliced bread.

The Southlake Carroll product received his first offer in middle school, was made a five-star and garnered a perfect recruiting ranking. After backing off a pledge to play for Tom Herman and Texas, he skipped his senior year and ended up spending his freshman season at Ohio State.

Ewers then transferred to Texas where he was immediately viewed as the next great quarterback. Well, that is until Arch Manning entered the fold. The excitement that fans had for Ewers was doubled for Manning, and fans frequently called for Manning to replace him any chance they got.

In addition to his fanbase, which wanted him to be replaced, he battled injuries throughout his career, missing a couple of games each of his three years. At Friday's NFL scouting combine, Ewers addressed just how much he was tested mentally at Texas and expressed that all of the adversity will help him at the next level.

"A lot of guys don't really take mental into it, and I think that it's one of the most important things you got and mine might be a little underrated," Ewers said via ESPN. "I went through a lot in my career at Texas whether that be injuries or other things like that, but I think that I wouldn't trade anything because it might me who I am today. It built my character to where I am today. If anything does happen in the future to the extent that it happened there, then I'm ready for it and how to attack it."

It was revealed earlier this week that Ewers played through a torn oblique this season, and was still able to lead Texas to the SEC title game and College Football Playoff.

In his final season in Austin, he threw for 3,472 yards and 31 touchdowns, and solidified himself as a program legend. He walks away from Texas third all-time in passing yards with 9,128. He also ranked third in career passing touchdowns with 68.

He will look to impress in Indy to boost his draft stock, which has been estimated to be around the second or third round.
