Running back Ashton Jeanty was amazing for the Boise State Broncos in 2024, finishing second in Heisman Trophy voting after accumulating 2,601 rushing yards (second in FBS history) and 29 touchdowns.
His effort paid off big time, as he was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which led to him signing a fully guaranteed four-year, $35.8 million contract
Of course, there's a lot of excitement to see what he will do in his rookie season, and an article for Bleacher Report, Alex Kay predicts Jeanty will rack up 252 carries, 1,207 rushing yards, nine touchdowns, 48 receptions, 398 yards and four touchdowns.
That would certainly be impressive and even a historic feat, because if those rushing yards did become a reality, it would be the most in a single season for a rookie in Raiders history, breaking Josh Jacobs' previous record of 1,150 set in 2019.
Jeanty possibly hitting that mark would also be a huge upgrade, considering that their 2024 leader rusher was running back Alexander Mattison, who in 2024 ran the ball 132 times for 420 yards and four touchdowns.
By the end of the season, the Raiders had produced one of the worst ground games, ranking 32nd in total rushing yards (1,357), 28th in touchdowns (10) and 32nd in rushing yards per attempt (3.6).
All of this also enhances Jeanty's expectations to make an immediate impact going into 2025, as ESPN BET even gives him the best odds (+275) to win AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
If he can pull that off, then he would become just the second player in Raiders' history to win the award, joining running back Marcus Allen, who took it home in 1982.
