Recruiting analyst makes prediction that Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns will love
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Marshall Levenson made a prediction this week for the Texas Longhorns that backup quarterback Arch Manning will love.

Levenson predicted that Texas will land a commitment from 2025 five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett.

Lockett is scheduled to announce his commitment on August 7.

From Rivals.com: The contenders in the final stretch for Lockett are certainly no slouches as it's Texas, Alabama and Texas A&M that appear to be the primary programs gunning for his commitment. There have been waves this offseason of which program feels the best at a given time, with the Longhorns picking up the most buzz this offseason. However, with Keelon Russell committed to Alabama, and a number of elite prospects jumping aboard the Tide, they too seem attractive for the Sachse standout. Texas A&M is the latest to get some love as a potential trending team. As it winds down, I look at Texas as being the likely destination. The Longhorns have been linked to a number of elite wide receivers this cycle and I think Lockett will be the one they lock down.

Lockett, 6-foot-2/175 lbs from Sachse, TX, rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 5 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Texas. He's also rated as the No. 20 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Landing Lockett would give Manning another potentially elite option in 2025 when the former five-star recruit is set to take over as the Longhorns' starting quarterback. The presence of Arch in Austin was almost certainly a major selling point in Texas' pursuit of Lockett.

Alabama and Texas A&M are also in the mix for Lockett ahead of his commitment next month.
