Since A-Day, Alabama football has lost several players to the transfer portal — now there may be a new cause.
According to Tide Illustrated’s Tony Tsoukalas, Crimson Tide fourth-year defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs’ status with the team is uncertain at this time. The reason behind the potential removal has not been publicized, but “the discipline is serious enough to result in the redshirt junior's removal from the program.”
Burroughs remains on Alabama’s online roster — the decision is reportedly a 50/50.
Burroughs has been with the Crimson Tide since the beginning of the 2020 season — which resulted in a national championship win over Ohio State. Burroughs didn’t see much of the field until the 2022-23 season when he appeared in 11 games — recording eight tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback hurries. Burroughs was expected to have a larger role on Alabama’s defensive line in 2023-24 after the departure of Byron Young and DJ Dale.
Burroughs is reportedly “not thought to be facing any legal trouble.”
