Former Penn State QB Beau Pribula is visiting an SEC school, per a report by 247Sports.

Pribula, a 6-foot-2, 203-pounder, announced this past Sunday that he’d be entering the transfer portal after three seasons with Penn State.

As coach James Franklin explained at his weekly presser the next day, Pribula also won’t be with the team during its College Football Playoff run.

The good news for Pribula is that plenty of places need a quarterback, even some in the Power Four. Missouri is one of them, and that’s where Pribula is visiting Tuesday evening.

PRIBULA’S ROLE

Beau Pribula rushes for his eventual first half touchdown.

Although Pribula technically was a backup QB, he wasn’t a traditional QB2. Pribula appeared in each of Penn State’s first 13 games, used mainly as a runner. He ended the season with 242 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries. Pribula only passed the ball 35 times but completed 26 of them, with his finest hour coming Oct. 26 at Wisconsin.

Starting QB Drew Allar got hurt late in the first half, and with Penn State down 10-7 at the half, somebody needed to step up.

On defense, that guy was Jaylen Reed, whose Pick 6 gave Penn State a lead it wouldn’t lose.

On offense, Pribula was that guy. He went 11-for-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown. The next week, Allar was fine and Pribula went back into his Swiss Army Knife role. But for the second half of that Madison night, Pribula was the man for Penn State. If Pribula wasn’t sharp, who knows if Penn State beats Wisconsin? If Penn State doesn’t beat Wisconsin, it isn’t in the College Football Playoff.

Missouri isn’t the only place that’s interested in Pribula. Zenitz reported that Pribula is “also garnering interest from schools like Ole Miss, UCF, Iowa and others.”

Penn State plays at Iowa Oct. 18 next season. So there’s a thought.

PSU has its first-ever playoff game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21 against SMU at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on TNT/HBO Max.
