Louisville wide receiver William Fowles has entered his name into the transfer portal, according to On3.

The Cardinals have now had seven players transfer following their loss to USC in the Holiday Bowl, and 16 scholarship players overall in this cycle. Fowles is the third UofL wide receiver to enter the portal, following Ahmari Huggins-Bruce and Kevin Coleman Jr.

Fowles joined Louisville as part of their 2023 recruiting class, committing to the Cardinals back in August of 2022 and maintaining his commitment after Scott Satterfield left and Jeff Brohm took over. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound receiver was ranked as the No. 531 prospect in the cycle and No. 75 receiver in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

In his one and only season as a Cardinal, the Hialeah, Fla. native wound up seeing action in just one game. Fowles played eight offensive snaps and one special teams snap in garbage time against Murray State, catching one pass for seven yards.

Dec. 4, 2023 marked the first day of college football’s 30-day winter transfer portal window. Players have until today, Jan. 2, to enter the portal for their permitted one-time transfer under current NCAA guidelines.

The Cardinals finished their 2023 season with an overall mark of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC) including a berth in the program's first ever ACC Championship Game, but ended year one under head coach Jeff Brohm on a three-game losing streak.
