As any college player who was on campus during the 2020 season, due to COVID eligibility rules set by the NCAA, that season would not impact their eligibility.
Deal represented Auburn at SEC Media Days last season and was a key part of the leadership in the locker room this past season, his poise and physicality will help Auburn's offense in 2024.
This season, Deal played 231 snaps on offense, second most among tight ends.
Auburn's tight end room was consistently given praise from Freeze both regarding leadership and depth in the room.
Deal, Tyler Fromm, Rivaldo Fairweather, Brandon Frazier, and Micah Riley created one of the better position groups on Auburn's roster this season.
